The origin of luxury men’s swimwear label Vilebrequin can be traced back to a sunny afternoon in 1971 Saint Tropez. While taking in the coastal city at one of its popular café terraces, founder Fred Prysquel was inspired to sketch preliminary designs for what would become the label’s iconic Moorea swim trunks. Featuring a surfer-inspired boxer short silhouette and crafted from quick-drying spinnaker cloth, the Moorea represented a departure from the short, fitted swimsuits du jour and quickly became a staple among Saint Tropez’ beachside boutiques. Over 45 years since its inception, the French luxury brand upholds its founder’s legacy of innovation and craftsmanship. Each of the label’s contemporary men’s swimsuits, including the classic Moorea and modern Merise styles, is individually-crafted by European artisans from Vilebrequin’s signature quick-drying Italian-milled nylon. Côte d’Azur, while custom retro-inspired patterns, featured in limited seasonal runs, lend a touch of novelty to the label’s state-of-the-art swimwear.
